Shattered Elbow Caregivers Group 130816
PostOp Day 23 Update 130816: Finally it is Friday! I so cannot wait for Monday!!!
Each day I am discovering more and more things that I am able to return to doing with both hands. Opening a can of salmon. Clipping my fingernails. I might consider possibly thinking about maybe contemplating doing a load of laundry this weekend, or not.
Through this week, in anticipating of returning to work on this coming Monday, I have been purposing to sit upright either at the patio table reading, or here at the computer dinking around or writing out bills. I started out by achieving two hours, and am up to just over three hours. Then the elbow starts throbbing, the humerus begins to pulsate, and the exhaustion is overwhelming. My plan for the first day back to work is to head in at one and see how long I can make it. Kitty will give me a ride home when she is done. If I am unable to make it a full four-hour shift, there is a recliner in the conference room that I just might find handy.
Oh! And remember that blip about where the doctor had advised me to keep in mind that there is the possibility that I might not be able to return to graphic design because of the limitations of my elbow? Right? Well, who is sitting here typing with BOTH hands? Exactly. MmHmm. Go on, tell a stubborn Norwegian that he can't. And whose elbow is arguing right now. Hush.
So, all in all, and over all, thank you, thank you to each of you who have provided your presence whether by food, prayers, texts, phone calls, fellowship, tasks, etc. Each of you are more appreciated than you really might comprehend.
Inspiration and Blessing 130816: “It is not true to say that God wants to teach us something in our trials. Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something. His purpose in using the cloud is to simplify our beliefs until our relationship with Him is exactly like that of a child—a relationship simply between God and our own souls.” – Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest
Request List 130816:
I have neglected keeping tabs on whose food containers are whose. Feel free to drop by and reclaim each of yours.
I will need a ride to work on Monday between 12:30 and 12:45ish. I am hoping that on Tuesday, the doctor will reinstate my driving privileges! My cousin Myra Johnson will be driving me to my doc appointment and physical therapy on Tuesday and on Thursday (but I hope to be driving by Thursday).
By the by, I have given up on shaving my head anymore anyways, until needed for Living Masterpieces in September.

Yep, it is yucky. Showered without the brace and compression sock last night. Afterwards, flexed at the mirror. Definitely Popeye in the right arm, and Olive Oyle in the left. Mike and I were laughing so hard, what a stark contrast!

I have just completed reading a most remarkable book. Please, will you join in an interest in a true dialogue regarding the whole Christians vs. Gays discussion? The book "Torn: Rescuing the Gospel from the Gays-vs.-Christians Debate" by Justin Lee,founder of the Gay Christian Network, details his personal journey of better understanding both sides of the Christian approach to homosexuality.
In many, many ways, his story and mine often parallel in wrestling with our faith in God, rediscovering God's rich grace, all the while coming to terms with our same-sex attractions. Alas, grace is often missing in churches when it comes to the "gay debate" and it is something necessary for to restore bridge-building between these two communities.
Please, give yourself the opportunity to secure yourself a copy of this wonderful resource.
